Mobile Explained
At Buroserv we offer a wide range of plans to suit your needs. This page will explain everything you need to know to make the perfect mobile plan choice for you and your business.
What types of mobile plans are available?
There are a wide range of mobile plans available which can be classified into four broad categories:
Voice & Data or Data Only: Not all mobile devices make phone calls. If your mobile SIM is to be used in a tablet or modem, it's worth considering a data-only mobile plan. That way, you don't pay for calls you don't need. If your team need always-on internet access while they’re away from the office, you need a robust mobile data plan. Our mobile packages include your choice of data allowance.
Phone Plan or SIM-Only Plan: Many people choose to pay for a new phone through their mobile plan. However, you may be able to get a better deal by buying your phone outright and using a SIM-only plan.
Phone Plan or SIM-Only Plan: Many people choose to pay for a new phone through their mobile plan. However, you may be able to get a better deal by buying your phone outright and using a SIM-only plan.
Shared Data Plans: These allow your business to share usage across your workforce. You pay for average data consumption rather than peak usage, which helps you minimise excess data charges.
What should I know about mobile data?
Maybe this is your first time selecting a business mobile data plan, or maybe you just want to be certain you’re making the right choice. Either way, here are some need-to-know pointers on mobile data:
How much data Is included?
Most plans include a set amount of data. However, many plans include much more data than you are likely to need, especially if you usually use your device at home and in the office where you have access to a Wi-Fi connection. It’s worth checking how much data you are actually using before you select a plan. You should also check excess usage charges.
4G or 5G: Which is right for me?
5G is up to 100 times faster than 4G, though in practice, it comes down to coverage. Most carriers in Australia are now rolling out 5G, but it’s not yet widely available outside major centres, so it might be worth waiting until coverage becomes more widespread to choose a 5G plan. To use 5G, you’ll need a 5G-enabled phone or other device, which at the moment means paying a premium. You’ll also need a mobile plan that includes 5G — many cheaper plans are 4G-only.
What if I need to make national or international calls?
Of course, you might want to use your mobile plan to make calls, rather than just to access the internet. Here are two things you should know:
What types of calls are included?
Many plans now include unlimited calls in Australia. However, if you predominantly use your mobile plan for data and messaging, it might be cheaper to simply pay for the occasional call as you go.
If you do business or have family and friends overseas, consider a plan that includes international calling. Discover our new mobile plan with unlimited calls to 15 popular destinations
How about international roaming?
COVID-19 has perhaps made international roaming less of a priority than it used to be, but there can be huge differences in international roaming rates from one carrier to another. Be sure to check roaming charges before you choose a plan.
What should I know about mobile coverage?
Not all carrier networks are equal, especially when you venture outside of the major cities. If regional coverage is important to you, it’s worth checking the carriers’ coverage maps before signing up.
We offer a choice of Telstra and Optus plans, which means we can provide coverage for up to 98.8% of the population.
